TIESTO-sweet misery (myslovitz video by yomand)
VERY slow for Tiesto. I'd expect to hear this spun at about 1.7x. l'd like to hear it at bout 140bpm and that'd be what a hit is made of for real. It's just too slow at this tempo. It's no secret that this is meant that it is meant to be spun over-speed for sure. If the voice can be maintained where it is would be great, but the intended final mix speed is plainly 120-140 bpm. I'd expect any of the major DJ's out there to spin it fast, and I don't think that's any downgrade for it.

Seeing as how Tiesto has his hand in making it, I would have little doubt that his intent was to not only to have a down-tempo tune to spin but also a trance-tempo tune to spin when he needs it. Nice.

INCREDIBLE video of space shuttle ascent
As ABSOLUTELY AMAZING as this is, my first question remains. Why is NASA not videoing at insanely high resolution. We should be seeing this in 1080p at a 10x compression from their original video files... not blurry 640x480 crap. Video technology has come a LOOONNNGGG way since 1970 and we should see that. If (read "when") there is another trip to the moon, I expect to see perfect video... On top of that, EVERY SINGLE VIDEO we see from the ISS should be in absolutely perfect HD with HD quality sound. Why, in 2009, are we still seeing fuzzy video with telephone-quality sound from our astronauts? Better, why are our astronauts apparently communicating via completely low-rez, almost incomprehensible quality CB-style radio? It should look and sound like they are in the next room... heck, our webcams are better quality than what we get from the ISS. As it appears to me, that would seem to be an additional 1 pound of technology in terms of the cams and only maybe 1000x the bandwidth they sent to earth in the 70's, and if they can't send that amount of data down today, than they need to rethink things a bit. psh. psh I say. I simply unimpressed by NASA's PR department. As a scientist I'm profoundly affected by their work, but as a citizen AND a scientist, I'm uni pressed with the way they've presented what they've been doing to the general public.

For goodness sake, SHOW US SOME COOL STUFF!! It's not that hard. Show us video from the moon. Show us video from the probes, show us video from deeps space. Show us ANYTHING! It is not that hard people. Think of us curious folks who just want to see things and know things. No more of these "artistic renderings" of everything you discover. Plug some damn HD video cams on your dang equipment for goodness sake.

Disclaimer: I recognize that I know jack-shit about space technology, and that I don't understand how exactly we get information direct from from outerspace installations and etc... but seriously, come on. 30 years and no improvement?

Most Epic Marriage Proposal Ever!
Douche? How many douches that you know would go to that amount of long-term effort to put this together? And on top of that, how many douches do you know who would put this much effort into a MARRIAGE proposal? For a one night stand with a model maybe... for marriage? psh. not.

As for the expense? If you're married, think about how much you would be willing to have spent if you could make your proposal this special. If you're not, think of how much work and money you'd be willing to spend to make it really amazing and unforgettable. This ain't your "we should talk about whether or not to get married" talk. This is a "LET'S DO THIS, LOVE!" moment.

Is it me or is YouTube slow? (Sift Talk Post)
I've noticed it too. Normally my Prodigy connection lets me view one a day, now it's one every THREE days!! Fail.

I will promise you this..
I don't think the * lies invocation is fair. He was likely being truthful, but only naive. My bet is that upon entering office, he was given the information that he was not privy to as a candidate or as anyone of lesser office than that of the presidency. He probably got into the office, got the whole story and said, "dang, I guess we really shouldn't pull out just yet."

Health Insurance Companies' Profit Margins: Not so Fat (Lies Talk Post)
Don't get me wrong, I'm all in favor of regulation. In fact, I took a very significant and active roll in requiring insurance companies in my state to insure at least a certain minimum percent coverage of mental illnesses. I see government oversight as valuable. As I referred to history earlier, I refer to it again saying that oversight of this kind works. Overarching control, however, never has.

Health Insurance Companies' Profit Margins: Not so Fat (Lies Talk Post)
Also, I should say that a company is SUPPOSED to make money. If they aren't, than they're doing something wrong. That's the way that a successful capitalist market works. If you don't like capitalism, that's another argument entirely, but in this society... the most successful economic society in the history of the world... you must make profit as a company to survive as a company. To expect an independent company to LOSE money in any given time is just foolish. In addition, we expect the same of our tax dollars. We expect that the services that our taxes provide are worth more than we are spending to provide them. We therefore expect profit, not loss. Yet our government is notorious for spending outrageous amounts of money for even simple services. I would cite examples, but any idiot could find 20 in 2 minutes with google. The bottom line is that the government is responsible to no one when it comes to one detailed and complicated issue. You may say that they're responsible to voters, but most voters don't pay any attention to this sort of thing. Anyway, the tax-payers don't have a vested interest that they can plainly see in this. A COMPANY has investors that are constantly studying performance reports, and these people understand the business. They, if anyone, are the ones you want to win over, not congressmen.

Health Insurance Companies' Profit Margins: Not so Fat (Lies Talk Post)
In my eyes, giving the government control of our healthcare is like giving a fugative a gun. You know they're going to screw up and someone's going to get hurt because their record so obviously says they will. Seed is right. It comes down to whether you actually trust the feds to run this well. History, even very recent history, says NO. To ignore that history is to blind yourself and close your mind. Look at all the businesses that the government has taken over. NONE of them has really succeeded. They've all been laughable sinks of tax money and even more laughable in general opinion of their work.
